@Magaly @Aron what do you think about the way of importing old content from Discord like it did it for Vonovia or the U.S debt ceiling crisis?
I liked it, it is better than I expected
Yep think so as well. The way of hiding old msgs using the “hide detail” option is not bad isn’t it?
It gives reader the ability to go back in time without being overwhelmed by a lot of informations in the first post.
Any idea for improvement? Should we make the effort to remove e.g. all icons to make reading easier?
I like that it’s possible to import them. But is it possible to assign those content that carries discussions their own titles to avoid breaks when reading them? For instance in the case of Vonovia AGM, we can give a title like “Vonovia 2023 AGM Discussion in Discord Channel” and then copy the summary of the AGM as well as discussions.
It should be optimal to remove all icons, but I think it depends how long the discussion is
Yes good idea. When importing Discord msgs we could decide to split them into multiple topics instead as one large import.
E.g.
Vonovia 1.1billion Suedowo property sale
Msgs regarding the Suedowo property sale will be here
Vonovia 2023 AGM Discussion
Msgs regarding this part of the discussion will be here
Etc.
Additionally it is also always possible to turn a few selected msgs of a discussion on Discourse into a new standalone Discourse topic. This can be done using administrative functions even in hindsight.
Thats pretty cool, but it normally happens that new ideas comes out while we are discussing a topic
