EU president said she will not weaken emission efforts

While campaigning for reelection in July, EU president Ursula von der Leyen vowed not to weaken European’s efforts to fight climate change.
“We will stay the course on our new growth strategy and the goals we set for 2030 and 2050,” she said.

She said this despite mounting pressure from some EU lawmakers to weaken parts of the climate agenda.
