Daniel Ek campaigned for years for a fairer more open ecosystem and against Apples AppStore Monopoly on IOS. I think it is likely a mix between a deep philosophical believe and concrete advantages for Spotify in case there would be new regulation on the subject.

- Sirius XM Holdings launched a streaming app for customers who want to listen to shows outside their cars, a move seen as a challenge to Spotify.
- The product priced at $10 a month will be available from December 14 in Apple Inc, Google App Stores and Amazon.com Inc and will have better personalization and recommendation tools.
- Sirius plans to offer new titles of audiobooks from Audible starting next year and more podcasts titles.
- Originally, Sirius offered its customers access to its satelite radio channels in a car or streaming devices for $24 a month, with streaming-only plans starting at $5 a month and rising to $11 for full programming services.

Amazon’s Audible CEO Bob Carrigan said it’s hard to ignore Spotify’s new audiobooks business.
“A year ago we didn’t have a subscription based, fully included competitor that has hundreds of millions of customers,” Carrigan said. “To say that that is not something that we should be paying close attention to would be business irresponsibility.”
