U.K. to ban social media for under-16s " to give kids their childhood back"
- The U.K. government plans to ban social media platforms from offering services to under-16s from Spring 2027.
- A decisive action, backed by 9 in 10 parents is expected to be brought to Parliament before Christmas.
- The government plans to use the same model for a social media ban as Australia and will target social media platforms such as Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X, but will exclude messaging services like WhatsApp and Signal.
