I=6 Meta is testing human callers for its Muse AI agent
Muse’s phone-calling feature allows users to have the agent call U.S. businesses on their behalf to complete tasks such as booking haircuts, checking product availability or obtaining quotes from contractors.
Meta already rolled it out but some employees raised privacy concerns about humans handling those calls and the company promised to roll it back for now.
“We’re working with merchants to continue improving this potential calling feature, and will only roll it out when it’s ready and with the proper disclosures,” a Meta spokesperson said.
I=7 Meta’s Muse exceeded 500,000 users roughly a week after its launch
Meta’s Muse exceeded 500,000 users roughly a week after its launch, including more than 250,000 daily active users, The Information reported, citing internal data.
Muse has risen to the No. 1 spot on Apple’s App Store (among free apps), attracting more than 31,000 ratings.
According to SensorTower data, Muse recorded 264,000 U.S. downloads on September 19, its third consecutive day above 200,000, while daily active users reached 448,000 just 10 days after launch, compared with ChatGPT, which took nearly a year to surpass 200,000 daily U.S. downloads and 49 days to reach 450,000 DAUs.
Rival Instinct has attracted more than 100,000 users despite limited availability, while OpenAI has reportedly discussed developing a personal AI assistant to compete with Meta’s Muse.
I=7 Meta unveils ‘Charm’ device for accessing Muse AI at its Connect 2026 event
Meta unveiled Muse Charm, a pocket-watch-sized device with a roughly 2-inch display that runs a new operating system and provides access to Muse models even without Wi-Fi. It features front and rear cameras for visual AI tasks and fingerprint authentication, but does not support phone or video calls (min 58:55).
Zuckerberg said over time they will profit from Muse by taking a small fee of the transactions (min 11.56).
They have launched Muse connectors with dozens of partners, including Walmart, Best Buy, American Eagle Outfitters, DICK’S Sporting Goods, Fanatics, Gap, Michael Kors, Sephora, Ulta, and Wayfair, plus Shop Pay and PayPal for payments, and Expedia (min 17:37).
Meta also announced Voice Mode for Muse, enabling voice dictation (min 21:59).
Zuckerberg now views personal superintelligence as a larger and more immediate opportunity than the metaverse (min 21:28).
Assessment
I think the most important announcement was the Muse Charm as it can recreate Tamagotchi moment (colorful virtual pets that became a cultural phenomenon in the late 1990s) and resonate with Gen Zs. However, Meta currently expects most people to use Muse via phones and Meta’s smart glasses.
I=6 Meta launches Meta Enterprise Platform to help businesses use AI, to be run by to be ex-MongoDB CEO Desai
Meta Enterprise Platform will have Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code, etc,.
The platform will be led by Chirantan “CJ” Desai, who was the CEO of MongoDB (document database company with market cap of $24 billion) and previously led product and engineering at Cloudflare and spent nearly eight years at ServiceNow, including as President and COO.
Desai will report directly to Mark Zuckerberg.
Meta shares were down 3% earlier in the session before reducing losses to trade at around 1% following the report.
I=6 Meta announces Muse for Small Business to help owners run their businesses and find new customers
It can connect to dozens of business tools, allowing it to work with a company’s brand, storefront, books and customer records.
Muse Business for Small Businesses has integrated with Asana, Box, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, Granola, HighLevel, QuickBooks, Klaviyo, Lovable, Notion, Shopify, Slack, Stripe and Zoom, alongside Facebook and Instagram business accounts.

I=7 OpenAI launches Dots, its answer to Meta’s Muse
OpenAI said Dots can run multiple projects autonomously, learn users’ preferences over time and proactively work in the background.
Dots will have their own cloud computer/browser and connections to 4,000+ apps and users.
Users can communicate with and direct the agent through ChatGPT via messages or voice calls, as well as through Slack and Microsoft Teams, with text messaging support planned for later.
Dots are initially rolling out to Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise users, with the first Dot included at no additional cost.
Meta shares rose almost 3% following the launch, possibly reflecting relief that Dots currently pose a more limited near-term consumer threat to Muse, as they are restricted to paid ChatGPT users and lack a dedicated standalone app.
Earlier on, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in a CNBC interview that Muse “seems like a nice product,” but that he does not feel threatened by Meta.
I=4 Meta describes its AI data centers investment as a giant experiment that could fail, enabling it to benefit from tax credits
However, Meta has also pointed out that “every sign that we’re seeing in our own work and across the industry gives us confidence in this investment," creating possibility of a dispute with the I.R.S, The New York Times reported.
As a result, Meta risks having the billions in tax-savings overturned by the I.R.S.
Meta saved $2 billion in 2024 and $3.9 billion in 2025 by claiming the credit for the data centers.
There is an ongoing court dispute in which the I.R.S is seeking around $16 billion in taxes and penalties on profits it says Meta moved to the Cayman Islands from the United States.
I=7 Muse tops 5 million downloads, according to SensorTower
Meta’s Muse topped 5 million downloads as of Wednesday, less than a month after its launch, according to SensorTower.
ChatGPT had crossed the same milestone in 56 days.
The traction is partly attributed to heavy advertising investment by Meta, garnering 50% of “daily house impressions” in the two weeks between Sept. 14 and Sept. 27.
The app also remains the No. 1 app on both Apple’s App Store and the Google Play store.
The app had a U.S. daily download record of 264,000 on September 19, having been launched on September 8.
I=6 Muse tops 3 million weekly users and 1 million daily active users
Muse had 250,000 daily active users as of September 2022, The Information reported, citing internal data.
Meta’s Muse now has more than 3 million weekly active users who submit at least one prompt, including over 1 million daily active users who send at least one prompt.
According to SensorTower, Muse has topped 5 million downloads, less than a month after its launch, compared to ChatGPT had crossed the same milestone in 56 days.
I=6 Meta’s use of Claude Code drops to ~30,000 employees from ~60,000 earlier this year
Meta’s declining reliance on Claude is primarily being driven by the rapid adoption of its own AI coding tools and Muse Spark models, and partly by its recent layoffs.
Muse Code — Meta’s direct competitor to Claude Code — has already reached more than 6,000 internal users while MetaCode—a similar tool built exclusively for internal use—has already surpassed 30,000 users.
I=8 Hunterbrook Capital discloses short position in Meta, citing an 8.1% week-over-week decline in Muse downloads
Hunterbrook said growth in DAUs has slowed from an average daily net increase of 198,000 in late September to just 74,000 in the first week of October.
Additionally, combined Android and iOS reviews averaged about 674 a day in the week ending October 7, down 11.6% from the prior week.
Hunterbrook cited data from TickerTrends, which correctly predicted that OpenAI’s run-rate annual revenue was $50 billion last month.
I=5 Zuckerberg reiterated his willingness to continue investing heavily in AI infrastructure
min 45:19–45:45
“This is such a valuable thing to create in the world that if you know that there’s a pretty high probability chance of doing it, even if it’s going to cost many hundreds of billions of dollars to go do, it is still worth it to go do that.”
I=8 Muse downloads are now plateauing, Bloomberg reported, citing Apptopia data
According to Apptopia data, ending September 28, Muse had reached 5.8 million downloads but the download rate was starting to flatten.
Human Security, a cybersecurity firm that monitors bot activity, reported that Muse accounts for 72% of AI agent requests across the websites it tracks, more than five times the share generated by ChatGPT’s agent feature.
Human Security also found that Muse was 25% more likely than any other AI agent to guide users through to the checkout stage.
I=9 Meta introduces Muse Wonder with “frontier capabilities”
Meta said the new model’s capabilities put it on par with OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic PBC’s Claude when it comes to coding, or working through financial or legal questions.
Meta AI Chief Alexandr Wang said in an interview that Meta has tried to differentiate itself from its competitors by focusing on big models for broad, consumer use cases.
Muse Wonder Full ranks second after Claude Opus 5.5in Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index while Muse Wonder ranks fifth.
Muse Wonder Full ranks 5th on Vals Index, surpassing every OpenAI model.
Muse Wonder, internally code-named “Watermelon,” was released right on schedule.
I don’t like that Meta isn’t at the top of the benchmarks yet, but perhaps real-world performance matters more, especially when it comes to personal superintelligence, an area where Meta claims to be differentiated from its competitors.
I=5 Key Insights from Cheeky Pint’s Interview with Mark Zuckerberg and Alexandr Wang
Zuckerberg said in Cheeky Pint Podcast that the time between each subsequent model will now start to compress since they are now at the frontier (min 14:35).
